Why The Lions?

OUR ANNUAL SERVICE PROJECTS

We sponsor service projects on a regular basis including:

• Scholarships to handicapped students
• Eye examinations and glasses for needy citizens of the community
• The "Bland" music completion for middle school students
• Eye glass and hearing aid collection and recycling
• Peace poster contest for middle school students
• Hearing examinations and hearing aids
• Food baskets to the needy during the holidays
• Health and welfare assistance
• Blood drives
• Hearing dogs for hearing impaired
• Leader dogs for sight impaired
• Sponsorship for youth baseball teams
• Support for scouting and other youth programs
• Diabetes awareness programs
• Sponsorship of Cue Camp Virginia, a weekend educational retreat for hearing impaired children and their families

CAN YOU VOLUNTEER?

We are always looking for civic-minded individuals who are willing to donate some time and effort toward making our community a better place in which to live. You can join us and learn more about what Lions really do to help others. Through membership, Lions not only help people in need, but they have opportunities to develop personal friendships and gain valuable leadership skills which can be useful in their work or in their personal lives.
